Downpours, winds possible as derecho weakens; Severe T-storm Watch canceled

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been canceled for Butler, Clark, Greene and Warren counties.

A line of thunderstorms continues to weaken as it moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Strong and potentially damaging wind gusts remain the primary threat from a complex of storms, the remnant of a derecho that devastated parts of the Midwest,.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration defines a derecho as “a widespread, long-lived wind storm.”

Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s.

On Tuesday, the chance of rain is 60 percent with thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. The high should hit 86 degrees. More showers and thunderstorms are possible overnight into Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, there will be more chances of storms and rain throughout the day, which will include a high of 86 degrees.

The forecast is much the same Thursday through Sunday, which is expected to be hot and humid with highs in the middle to upper 80s and a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day.
